A man alone in a room at night, calling out to someone who isn't there and won't come back, stuck in the moment when he realizes it's too late, that's the emotional core of this song, and these films all live in that same space of tender, inescapable regret. Each one watches a character confront something they wanted but cannot have, or something they had and lost, without looking away or offering false comfort. They move slowly, they hurt quietly, and they trust the viewer to sit with that hurt.
